WHO Health Cluster Meeting Discusses Strengthening Sri Lanka's Dengue Response
A Health Cluster meeting was convened at the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office to discuss priority actions for strengthening dengue prevention, control, and case management in Sri Lanka.
The meeting brought together officials from the World Health Organization (WHO), the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU), and other technical experts to review the current dengue situation and identify areas requiring enhanced technical and operational support.
Discussions focused on the requirements of the National Dengue Control Unit to further strengthen dengue prevention and vector control activities, improve surveillance and response mechanisms, and enhance curative measures to reduce dengue-related morbidity and mortality.
Participants also explored opportunities for continued collaboration and technical assistance to support the national dengue response, with emphasis on coordinated action, capacity building, and evidence-based interventions during the ongoing dengue outbreak.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization, and partner organizations to work collaboratively in strengthening Sri Lanka's capacity to prevent, detect, and respond effectively to dengue.
