Special Review Meeting on Dengue Prevention and Control Conducted for High-Risk Districts
The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) conducted a special Review Meeting on Dengue Prevention and Control on 5th August 2026 for public health staff representing the country's ten high-risk districts and administrative areas. The meeting was chaired by the Hon. Minister of Health and Mass Media, with the participation of the Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, Director General of Health Services, Deputy Director General of Health Services (Public Health Services I) and the Director of the National Dengue Control Unit.
Participants included Provincial Directors of Health Services, Regional Directors of Health Services, Consultant Community Physicians, Regional Epidemiologists, Medical Officers of Epidemiology, Medical Officers of Health, District Entomologists, Supervising Public Health Inspectors, Public Health Inspectors and Health Entomology Officers from the selected high-risk districts.
The meeting reviewed the current dengue situation and assessed the progress of ongoing prevention and control activities across the identified high-risk areas. Discussions focused on strengthening surveillance, vector control, community engagement, risk communication, intersectoral collaboration and preparedness to mitigate the risk of further outbreaks.
Participants also shared district-level experiences, highlighted operational challenges encountered during the implementation of dengue control measures and proposed practical and innovative strategies to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of dengue prevention activities.
